Cockroaches. You just hear the name and your start to squirm in your chair. But cockroaches are more than just annoying; they can actually spread disease and bacteria around your home. Now that summer is in full swing, these little pests are around coming out of nowhere to find a cool and wet spot to soak in. Luckily for you, you don't have to resort to harmful pesticides that aren't good for you, your children or your pets. There are several methods to get rid of cockroaches and they all just might be hiding in your kitchen.

Coffee Grinds

Cockroaches love the smell of wet coffee grinds. They attract them almost instantly. But wait! You want to get rid of the cockroaches, so why are you attracting them? Well, as much as these bugs love the coffee grinds, they can't digest them. So, the pests will feed on the grinds and eventually die because they can't get it out of their system.

After you brew yourself a strong cup of Joe, sprinkle the wet coffee grinds around the cockroaches' favorite spots. They love to hide in dark places, like cupboards and drawers. Check on these places at least once a day to clean up the dead bugs you find. To keep the aroma of the coffee alive and potent, repeat the process every two days.

Baking Soda And Sugar

Everyone knows that cockroaches love a sweet treat to eat during the summer time. The sugar will attract the bugs to a central feeding area. Baking soda dehydrates the cockroaches and will destroy their digestive system. This kills them from the inside out.

Mix a cup of sugar and a cup of borax together in a small bowl. Sprinkle the mixture along the cracks and baseboards of your home. Sprinkle a little in drawers and cupboards. You will notice that the little bugs start dying within hours.

Fabric Softener

Fabric softener is a nifty little trick when it comes to killing roaches. Fabric softener is a thick substance, so when the cockroaches breathe it in, they suffocate and slowly die off. Plus, you use it as a spray so the cockroaches will never see it coming.

Take a spray bottle and pour in one cup of water and fill the rest with water. Gently shake the spray bottle until both ingredients are mixed evenly, creating a thick solution. Spray the areas of your home where you see the most cockroaches activity. You can also spray the solution directly on the roaches when you see them. It makes a pretty amazing bug spray.

Cockroaches are among the grossest bugs you have to deal with at the peak of summer. Luckily, you can get rid of them just as easily as they invaded your home. By using one the methods listed above, you will be bug free and you can get back to enjoying your summer. If these methods don't work for you, contact a company like Pestco Inc for professional help getting rid of them.

About Me
Safe Pest Control Services

Welcome to my website. My name is Trina. I live in the country with my husband, our two children, two dogs, and three cats. I love country living with one exception... the pests! I am referring to wasps, stink bugs, and rodents. I don’t know why they don’t stay out in the woods, but they don’t. They seem to love our house. I was six months pregnant with our second child when we broke down and called a pest control service. The gentleman came out to talk to us, and I had many concerns. I was pregnant, we had a small child and our pets. The professional spent a great deal of time with us patiently explaining about the products they use in and around homes. I would like to share what we learned, and why we now have pest control service for our home.
